Capturing the beautiful soulful energy of nature and countryside
My Landscape Inspiration…
I was bought up on the Kentish coast, our family home had John Constable prints on the wall. I would study the paintings, imagining being in the countryside. I am now fortunate enough to live in Bozeat, a lovely Northamptonshire village surrounded by beautiful countryside. Everywhere you look, there are farming fields, meadows, fishing lakes and woodlands.
When driving past the fields, it has an amazingly calm affect on me. I’m fascinated by the array of green shades and type of trees. Owning two gorgeous English Springer Spaniel, I’m out on daily walks, when I can study the trees, listen to the rustle of leaves and see the sun shining through the trees it is really great for my wellbeing. Being outdoors really inspires me to get back to my canvas and create art in my studio, sometimes I’m lucky to create plein air.
From Acrylics, pastels to other mediums
Predominately I use acrylics for my landscapes, but I often like to experiment with other mediums, including pastels, charcoal and printmaking to bring out the extra detail and capture the feeling.
I love to create colours that have muted vintage tones, that has a nod to the past and my favourite leading ‘Old Masters” for e.g. John Constable, Leonardo de Vinci and Claude Monet.
